Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's top popular actors. Her fame is for playing strong characters that are also vulnerable. Born to a well-known playwright's father, and being raised by a single mother who worked by working as a nurse. She was drawn to theatre when working with her father during the summer and eventually pursuing a degree in acting first as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. After just two short years following graduation she began her Broadway-based career. The following year she made her debut in TV and film. She has appeared in innumerable film, TV and stage productions since then. There have been numerous awards during her professional career. This includes 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. But despite the many nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for the theatre isn't gone constant, as she continues to perform both onscreen and onstage.
