Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 at an Olympic contest. Bela Karolyi, later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci at just seven years old. She first competed in the national junior championships of 1969 placing 13th and she was the winner in 1970. Three gold medals were awarded in her first competition, a junior pre-Olympic meet in 1972, which was a communist bloc countries. Between 1973 and 1974, she became the junior champion in all-round competitions. In her first international competition as a senior in 1975 she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion, winning 4 gold medals as well as one silver. In 1976, she was the winner of the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also was the first female to ever dismount parallel bars using a double backward salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In her teens she started appearing on traveling shows like Ice Capades as a skater along with her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol ventured into the entertainment business as a teenager. She started her career performing figure skating with Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment shows Ice Capades. Ice Capades showcased performances of skaters ice skating by actors.
